Bridging the COVID Gap

As the world begins to resurface from the global pandemic, families and educational institutions alike must prepare themselves to address the significant, adverse, and potentially far-reaching effects on students wrought by COVID-19.

 

Emerging and ongoing research demonstrates concerning pandemic-induced lags and gaps in student literacy (for the purposes of these articles used interchangeably with the term ‘language and communication’); consequently, society must adopt and implement supports that will tangibly serve to narrow identified gaps created and/or magnified by the pandemic in student language acquisition, written and oral communication practice, and formal academic output. The opportunities are out there, and it is incumbent upon us to do what we can to forge the path to educational recovery.
